A Busy April

Well we've had a pretty busy April so far. We spent the last two weekends working out in our back yard. If you have seen our place, then you know that it needed "A LOT" of work. This picture shows us making the vegetable garden smaller. It now only takes up a portion of the north forty, instead of the entire north forty. After the fire died down, we roasted hot dogs for dinner.

We moved our arbor (the one that Alyssa made) from the other house, and then we planted some trees and bushes. Since we're going to have a Trax light rail line behind us, we figure that we need to plant us some privacy.

Cory, Jeri, Brock, Parker, C.J. and Jenni were having the time of their lives in Moab while we were slaving away in the yard. And to make matters worse; Mel and I were both coughing our lungs out with some kind of disgusting bronchial thing. (Mel gave it to me, I might add.)

The next day was Sunday and so we had a pre-birthday party for Baby Ike in the back yard. It was extra special because Grandpa Ike got to be there too. Cameron was the super chauffer who picked grandpa up and also took him back to the care center.

The next day was Baby Ike's grand entrance into the world. Can I tell you what a wonderful blessing it was for me to be with Alayna and Jason and getting to see Ike born. Thank you guys. I am so grateful to have been there with you.

By Thursday we got some more good news. Jason got a new job. The timing couldn't have been better.

Well after all of our yard work, getting a new baby, being home from work sick two days, etc., etc. we topped off the last couple of weeks with a weekend trip from Alyssa.

Aunt Alyssa flew in for the weekend to meet her new nephew. The only thing that would have been better would have been if Uncle Jimmy could have come too. We had a barbeque with Cory's new grill on Saturday night (during the wannabe hurricane) and then all got together again on Sunday for dinner before she flew back to California.

All in all, it has been a great two weeks, and I must say that I really believe that I have a lot to be thankful for.

We've got lot's of fun plans for summer, so stay tuned...

I noticed Alyssa started a blog. I'm so glad to be able to see what she's doing in her life. That picture of her and Randy is adorable! How did you get her convinced to get going? I'm still working on Diana and need some pointers!!!!
